In the open v. closed battle between Apple and Google it looks like Apple has taken hit. Would the glitch have been caught sooner if more developers were looking at? Well given that the security firm in question is fairly informal (perhaps nothing more than a group of hackers/coders) I would say yes. Whether the fault is Apple’s or AT+T’s is fairly moot in my mind. If Apple wants to keep everything closed and manage deployment and use in all phases of their technology this is very much the sort of risk that is posed. So while Jobs may not embrace generativity because it can yield porn (likely a consumer friendly cloaking of the profit motive) I will gladly trade some “naughty bits” for more people with good intentions vetting my experience.
