America is deeply anti-expertise in all respects. Sort of an extension (and I am cribbing someone else here) how free speech has become my-speech-is-as-good-as-your-speech but applied more broadly to ideas and especially those backed by empirical knowledge/study. Congress is like High School all over again, knowing how [insert policy] actually works will get you beat up and shushed.
